The black swan logo …
The black swan is significant for a number of reasons.
Firstly it has a strong link to the place I am now fortunate enough to call home. I live in Maroochydore where the Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi people have lived for tens of thousands of years. Maroochydore is from Murukutchi-dha, the place of the black swan. The black swan is also used as the logo of the estate in which I live.
The black swan also represents possibility thinking and the importance of ‘What If’ thinking. For a long time it was believed that black swans didn’t exist because they had never been seen. In Europe only white swans were believed to exist. It wasn’t until the black swan was encountered along Australia's west coast in the late 17th and early 18th centuries that this age-old myth was shattered.
What if thinking is the driver of creative thinking and an important element as we strive to create learning environments where all students feel valued and inspired to learn.
What people say …
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with our teachers. I'm so proud to say, they have grabbed it with both hands!
One of our secondary teachers told his class that we all did PD and he was going to try some new strategies in their lessons. The students responded, "Ohhhh! Now we know why all our teachers are doing new things! It's been so good!

I have known and worked with Janelle Wills for well over a decade. She has a deep understanding and extensive knowledge of my research and has been able to translate this knowledge into practical strategies that teachers can use in their classrooms. She is a true practitioner who models effective teaching by ‘walking the talk’. Janelle has a proven track record of helping teachers to improve their practice leading to better learning outcomes for students across a wide range of contexts and settings. Importantly, she is able to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise way whilst always keeping her audience engaged. I recommend her most highly for any and all professional development and educational consulting projects.
